A collaborative program on Art and Nanotechnology between gnration and INL.

We aim at fostering a multidisciplinary and hybrid approach between science, technology and arts to creatively innovate in nanotechnology.

The programme promotes exhibitions in which nanotechnology stands as the central point. The exhibitions are focused on the digital arts, sound art and media arts domain.

This unique programme was launched in 2015 is part of INL mission to articulate art and nanotechnology and it allows to reach the community and specifically an audience that would not be so likely to engage with Science, INL, and nanotechnology in particular. It is one of the many ways we at INL try to convey Science and Nanotechnology.

Artists who engage with INL are often surprised to realize that science demands creativity and that the scientist has to be creative to overcome many different challenges.

The relation that is established with the artistic object is as rich, diverse and complex as use that can be given to nanotechnology.

The programme aims to stir curiosity and hopefully make the visitor and the community at large engage with science and its impact on everyday life. It is an unlikely way to get to know INL, but it is certainly a very engaging way to do it.

During 2017 the program comprises three installations from renowned artists, who together with INL designate the theme of the installation. The first installation was inaugurated in March. The second installation will be exhibited between July and September. The third installation shall be inaugurated in October, during the INL Summit.

The installations are the result of artistic residencies at INL. INL researchers host the residency for a period of one week working together with artist in a creative process.
